Playing defense in the upcoming NBA 2K11 could be serious this year. In the past years playing on ball defense and trying to contain the paint could be easily exploited always making the game much more of an offensive minded game. So having a nasty full court press was always a key to playing good defense – hassling your opponent trying to make him make a mistake, trapping, and wearing him down. Half court defense could be huge and everything we have wanted from 2KSports. They said they got rid of the old on ball defense method and made it so it will be much more effective. Abusing the paint they simply said wont happen this year at all… There will be interior defense! Blocking shots has been improved and more effective, your help defense will play much smarter and more aggressive. These where the key things they focused on this year defensively in NBA 2K11.
The slightly revamped isomotion controls have been reveled today in this tutorial video created by 2Ksports. Pretty interesting it looks like the right stick will be involved more in certain things such as the step back jumper. Overall i am pretty pleased with the new animations added as well as some of the old ones that i liked still in the game. Remember though 2ksports has multiple animations they refer to as packages. For instance Derrick Rose behind the back move could look much different and be more effective then someone like jameer Nelson or obviously a bigger guy like Carmelo Anthony. Which game do you guys think looks sharper? I put up an image that compares player detail and general graphics. Like for instance look at the basketball court. To me this is the only thing that looks slightly better graphically in NBA Elite. NBA 2K11 player models in all the images i have seen really have looked pretty sick. I think 2KSports wanted to take that that to the next level this year. And actually the one other thing that looks sharper in NBA Elite is the crowd. If you look closely at this screen shot comparison you should see what i mean. No wonder why NBA Live was always trash, they spend all there time on the crowd rather then fixing the robotic gameplay haha… The basketball itself looks better in the NBA 2K11 image. But i certainly think NBA 2K11 player models will look spot on this year, especially the superstar players. Click on the image to enlarge it.
